Sap Flow Sensor type SF-L

The SF-L sensor is an improved Granier sensor. The improvements are:

Correction of measurement errors due to vertical temperature gradient of tree trunk: the vertical trunk temperature is measured separately and subtracted from the data of sap flow. In this way the sap flow is measured more accurately, and the zero-point of sap flow remains stable for a long time.

Continuous determination of water-saturation level of the tree body with a Dendrometer

New definition of zero sap flow: sap flow = 0 when the relative humidity in the crown => 100%, and the tree body is saturated with water (indicated by the dendrometer curve)

Advantages

Significant higher accuracy

Correct identification of zero sap flow

Correct Measurement of sap flow in night time

Additional data on tree growth measured by dendrometer

Reusable sensor

Disadvantages
Not suitable for trees with diameters <15 cm
